Create a digital business card: what to prepare, how to build it, how to share it

A digital business card is your contact details packaged so a phone saves them in one gesture. This is how to make one with OvniCard, what to have ready, and what to do with the link and the QR codes once you have them.

Before you start

Have the details you want on the card: name, title, company, the phone and email you actually answer, your website and LinkedIn if you use them, and a short line about what you do. A square photo of your face and a logo help; both stay on your device, they are never uploaded, and they never travel inside a shared link.

Building the card

  1. Open the web app in any browser. There is no account to create.
  2. Type your details and add the photo and the logo.
  3. Pick one of the eight colour themes, so your card is told apart from a second card at a glance.
  4. Save. The link and both QR codes are generated on your phone the moment you do.
  5. Add the app to your home screen if you want it to open like an app and work offline. That step is optional.

Sharing it

Show the QR code on your screen and let the other person's camera read it. Text or email the link. Save the QR as an image for a lock screen or an email signature. Print it on the back of a paper card. Export the card as a .vcf file to attach anywhere. Whoever receives it needs nothing but the phone they already own.

Collecting cards in return

The scanner photographs a paper card and reads it on your device into a contact, keeps the original photo with it, and flags any field it is not sure about instead of guessing. Two cards in one photo are refused, with a one-tap crop to fix it. Everything you collect exports as .vcf, the format every address book speaks.

More than one card

Work, personal, a side project: each card keeps its own details and its own colour, and you switch between them in the app. Editing a card updates its live link at once, so a printed link QR keeps working. Only a contact QR, which holds the details themselves, needs reprinting when those details change.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install anything?

No. The web app runs from a link in any browser. Adding it to your home screen is optional.

Is it free?

Making and sharing a card is free today, and so is the on-device scanner. No price is printed on this site that is not real.

Where is my card stored?

On your device, in the browser's storage. A shared card travels inside the link itself; there is no copy on a server.
